Hi, I'm Matthew, a Finance student at UT Austin. Before school, I spent six years in the Navy as a nuclear operator. Six years of learning what it means to commit to something bigger than yourself and actually see it through.

My aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought it, and she won, and I still have her. Not everyone gets that ending. The more people I meet, the more I realize how many are quietly carrying this. A friend's mom. A classmate's grandfather. Someone you'd never guess was in the middle of it.

That's what pushed me to sign up. Cancer isn't something that happens to other people somewhere else. It's already in almost every room I walk into.

In summer 2027, I'll ride over 4,000 miles from Austin to Alaska with Texas 4000 for Cancer. The money we raise goes to cancer research and to support services for patients and the families going through it with them.
