I’m honored and thrilled to be participating in the 2027 Texas 4000 Ride Team, a fundraiser supporting the Texas 4000 for Cancer. I am biking for my best friends, Swayam and Odalys, and all the strong fighters, survivors, and supporters.

Every moment cancer is mentioned, I immediately think of an indestructible spirit. I think back to the moments during high school, my dear friend Odalys, who would sit in the wrestling room and stare at the mat, craving to wrestle regardless of how tired she may have been. She always has a spark for life and would never turn down a match. She is my cheerleader, always recording my matches, screaming “Go Farra!” or “Your legs are free!” She has never let cancer define her, and has continued to make her own path and never lets anything deter her from what she wants.

Cancer never controlled my friends; in fact, they took control. Swayam always chooses the optimistic perspective in everything he does. He has never failed to be an amazing friend even if he was going through difficult times. Although we weren't able to see each other for years, he never failed to give the best advice. He has shown me what true friendship is.

I could never repay these amazing people who changed my life for good. Their strength and care are beyond commendable. This journey from Austin to Alaska will be my opportunity to face discipline, adversity, and strength with optimism, for a chance to embody the strength and resilience Swayam, Odalys, and all the other amazing fighters carry.
