For years, many of you have helped me support NICUs in memory of Alexander and Natasha. Now, I'm teaming up with the organization taking that fight to the next level: The Dragon Master Initiative. In the NICU, doctors fight for one baby at a time. DMI fights for all of them by fixing a massive problem: hospitals don't share data.
Imagine if every hospital was working on the same giant puzzle, but each one only had a few pieces. Dragon Master Initiative helps everyone put their puzzle pieces together. When doctors and researchers share information, they can see the bigger picture and figure out better ways to help sick kids.
A doctor or hospital might only see a rare childhood condition twice a year. DMI tracks data globally, allowing researchers to see it 20 or 30 times a year—speeding up life-saving clinical trials from years to months. In the years after losing our babies, I’ve met a lot of people, learned how important information is in healthcare, and that’s why this mission matters to me.
Nicholas will be running his first 5K race with me in October, Lucas will be running his first 5K with me in April, and I will be taking on Dopey ("just one more time, until the next time") in January.
