This past year, my cousin James and his girlfriend Kathleen were both diagnosed with cancer around the same time. Two completely different diagnoses, but a journey neither of them expected to be facing, let alone together.

In January, they're taking on something pretty incredible. James will be running the Disney Marathon and Kathleen will be running the Disney Half Marathon. Watching the two of them go through everything they have and still choose to challenge themselves like this inspired me to do something a little crazy too. I decided I will be running the Disney Half Marathon with them.

I'll be running through a charity benefitting pediatric cancer, which means I've committed to raising $1,210 for an organization supporting children and families affected by cancer. 

While the funds I raise will directly support pedicatic cancer, the reason behind every mile I run is incredibly personal. I'm doing this in honor of James and Kathleen and the strength they've both shown through a year that has asked so much of them.

13.1 miles is definitely going to push me way outside my comfort zone, but it feels like a pretty small challenge compared to what the two of them went through.
