I was diagnossed with Type 1 Diabetes in Janurary of 2023. Being able to connect with other children at diabetes camp going through the same journey was priceless. Going to camp and seeing the other children handling their own care gave me the confidence I needed to begin to be more independent. They taught me how to be brave and try different spots for my glucose monitor. I still talk to people I met at camp. It's nice to have someone to reach out to that is experiencing your same challenges. It also gave my mom other mom friends that are caring for their child with diabetes. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford camp. We will be donating all the money we raise to Camp Seale Harris so they can find children who need the financial assistance to attend camp.
