On Saturday, April 2nd, people of all ages will slip off their shoes and sandals to walk a Barefoot Mile, raising funds for JOY International. Please join us if you can, pray for our mission if you cannot, and donate if you are able.
Thank you!
JOY International's Story
JOY International began in 1981 by Dr. Jeff Brodsky who was inspired after his visit to a garbage dump in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Dr. Brodsky was feeding children who lived in and around the dump, and looking for those at high risk of being taken by predators and sold into brothels. Almost all the children were barefoot. Afterwards, he went back to his hotel room wondering what it would be like to live barefoot every day. He removed his shoes and socks and make the comittment to live barefoot in solidarity with impoverished and trafficked children.
Funds raised by the Winston-Salem Barefoot mile will support police training, special rapid response teams, awareness campaigns, emergency relief, resources for parents, and community education. Barefoot Mile walks are held across our country, from AK to NC.
JOY International has empowered the rescue ofover 2,500 children and young women from commercial sexual exploitation. Joy International
