I’m running the next Disney Princess 10K with Girl Power 2 Cure to raise money for Rett Syndrome research—for my daughter, Sophia.

Sophia is 8 years old and one of the happiest, sassiest, strongest, and most social little girls you’ll ever meet. She has the best smile, a BIG personality, knows exactly what she wants, and makes sure we know it too.

Sophia also has Rett Syndrome.

Rett is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder. It affects her ability to speak, use her hands, walk properly, sleep, and do everyday things most of us take for granted.

But Rett does not define Sophia.

She loves to make friends, swim, play at the play ground, and jump on trampolines. She understands so much more than her body allows her to express—and she reminds us every day just how much is behind that beautiful smile.

Today, there is no cure. But Rett Syndrome is potentially curable! Researchers were able to reverse Rett syndrome symptoms in mouse models.
