Right now, Children Rising's work is more important than ever! 

When COVID-19 struck last year, nearly 2,000 second-grade kids in Oakland were considerably behind in reading and/or math. Due to shelter in place and distance learning, the achievement gap has gotten even larger.

But there is hope. Together, we can empower children and youth to build bridges to a better future. We can equip them to rise above challenges created by generations of poverty, violence, and educational inequity. 

Since 2001, Children Rising has partnered with under-resourced community schools in the East Bay, coming alongside thousands of struggling children and youth. Over the past year, Children Rising has developed online tutoring in reading and math and developed an online version of CareerBridge, a unique career training, and mentorship program for teens.
