Fraser will always hold special meaning for me. In 1997, my beloved daughter Nina unexpectedly passed away. She had a love for music and always seemed to live in a world of imagination—creating joyful memories for all who met her. Nina also had autism. As way to honor her memory, I began volunteering at Fraser.

Eventually, a position opened in the development department. I was thrilled to be hired. Fraser became therapy—it saved my life by allowing me to create events that have a touch of Nina’s beautiful spirit.

Nina’s memory inspires my entire family to support Fraser families because they know what it means to live with someone with special needs. We were so fortunate to receive amazing supports, but sadly it still wasn’t enough! So today, I what to make sure other families have the supports they need.

My mission is to keep Nina’s memory alive through my passion—working at Fraser.  Even though my daughter was never served by Fraser, I know it would have been life-changing. Just like it is for the many families Fraser serves now! 

Today, families need access to all types of services—in a multitude of areas. I hope my story and experience inspires others to give!  This April, I will be raising support and awareness for Minnesota families affected by autism at the Fraser Walk for Autism.
