On July 31, 2017,  Gerry and I adopted Hunter and Lakyn from the Capital Humane Society.  These two beautiful and sweet, sweet Golden Retrievers are Senior Citizens,  10 and 8 years old now.  They needed to be adopted together as they were and are extremely bonded to one another.   They are active and a joy.  We fell in love with them immediately, as did our 12 year old grandson, who loves nothing more than wrestling and playing tug of war with Hunter.

Unfortunately, in Jan.  2018, Hunter was diagnosed with lymphoma and the prognosis for Goldies with that cancer is not good.  We were devastated but he started chemo right away and has done very well.  He went into remission with the first dose and has never missed a beat throughout his sessions to date.

My goal with the chemo was to have him feel great at least (and, hopefully, much longer) until spring, when he could be outdoors and enjoying the sun on his fur.  The Pet Walk is a great way for us to celebrate that goal as well as to celebrate and support the work of the Capital Humane Society.  Gerry and I have both served on the Board of Directors of the organization and know how hard the staff works to find forever homes for the dogs in their care.  Their work enriches the lives of the pets they place as well as the lives of the people who adopt them.  We have adopted several dogs from CHS, including our famous Bad Boy Bodie.  We have loved them all.
