I chose to run for CHD research to help raise awareness and create better opportunities for patients born with congenital heart defects. Prior to my career as a Registered Nurse in a Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, I was unaware of how common and complex these conditions are.Having the privilege to work closely with these patients and their families has completely changed my perspective. I’ve witnessed their strength, resilience, and the challenges they face every single day—and it’s something that has truly made a lasting impression on me. What started as part of my career has grown into a passion and a mission. One of the most important elements of that mission is increasing awareness. Congenital heart defects are far more common—and often more serious—than most realize. By bringing more attention to CHDs, we can help ensure earlier diagnoses, better support for families, and increase funding for the research that drives life-saving advancements.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the 2026 NYC marathon in support of these patients and families. Advocating for greater awareness and helping to advance the research abilities, giving every child with a CHD the chance to live a full and meaningful life.
