My name is Kari Watt, I am the Director of Volunteers and Community Meal, at the New Community Shelter in Green Bay.  The New Community Shelter is considered the finest and most respected program for adults experiencing homelessness in the state.  The shelter has earned such high praise because of the superlative services, respectful atomsphere, and structured environment.  Our shelter offers an Emergency Shelter Program, Transitional Living Program, and a Community Meal Program (Open to anyone in the Community in need of a hot meal.)   

We are available to adult men and women experiencing homelessness 24/7/365!  It is our mission to "Help People Help Themselves".  This means we empower, we don't enable!  Furthermore, every person staying at the New Community Shelter will have access to all the resources they need to become self-sufficient.  Residents are expected to be clean and sober, save 70% of their income, meet weekly with a case manager, attend educational classes, and assist with chores, just to name a few.  

The New Community Shelter was built and is sustained by the community.  Nearly 80% of funding comes from individuals, foundations, corporations, churches, organizations, and campaigns (Beyond the Bed & Holiday Appeal).  We have annual fund raising events (Bowl-a-thon, Murder Mystery Dinner, Golf Outing) We also receive funding from Brown County, State & Federal programs, VA, and United Way.  WE DO NOT RECEIVE ANY CITY TAX DOLLARS.
