I joined The Potters’ Studio in the summer of 2022, after a year of taking classes. It was the perfect environment for a new potter to learn, make use of the extensive equipment and training available, and gradually take ownership of my practice.

TPS offers something truly extraordinary — expert training that empowers members to make full use of the studio. I feel so happy walking into the studio, knowing I’ll find friends, creativity, challenge, new ideas, and countless opportunities to try new things. 

Last fall I joined the Community Support Group. Hosting social and community building events has been a fulfilling way to strengthen our connections. At the “Goodbye to 8th Street” party we shared memories about the studio from the last eleven years.  We heard from many members about the unique learning community here, about the humility and openness to sharing that so many have experienced, and about the mentors and teachers we have learned from. 

I recently joined the Board because I want to double down on my investment of time to help TPS succeed. I’ve been humbled by the incredible work of the current board and staff over the past five years. Big goals have been achieved:
— Becoming a nonprofit
— Growing new staff capacity
— Improving operations and accounting
— Finding and buying our new home - no small feat!

We are lucky to have such talented, dedicated people serving on our board and staff — and they have set a high bar for the future!

The Capital Campaign — our first in 50+ years — is our opportunity to secure the next 50 years. 

My family plans to give yearly during the campaign as part of our donation budget. I hope you will join me!
