Hi! I'm Philomena. I’m a student, member, and new Board member at The Potters' Studio in Berkeley, CA. 

The Potters' Studio brings joy and builds confidence in all things ceramics. 

Right now, the studio needs our support. After decades of renting, we purchased a building to secure our future. To fuel our move, we're aiming to raise 250k by June 30th. 

I'm calling on my friends, family, and art's community to give to The Potters' Studio. We know how important it is to have spaces to make artwork together. Our beliefs align with the studio's mission to provide lifelong learning through art to all.

I get to see The Potters’ Studio’s mission in action every day:

• A field trip to the Essig Museum to study insects for sculpture class
• Four handbuilding tables covered with 14 sculpted clay lizards (one with a hat and boots!)
• A snake vessel sparking conversation about symbolism, fear, and knowledge
•  A tiered tea tray sculpture paired with a poem honoring a daughter’s grief
• Naked raku objects passing from hand to hand, admired for their movement of light
•  A Quetzalcoatl exhaling incense in our gallery

These aren't just projects; they are proof of why TPS matters. 

I'm kicking off this mini-campaign with a $1000 donation to TPS. In a world that increasingly demands compliance, I want to ensure a future in which everyone has access to a safe space to be creative in clay. I believe in the power of collective creativity and the value of the arts both in radical self-care and resistance. I want to see and celebrate the quetzalcoatls, the tea trays, and the lizards for many years to come.
