Dravet syndrome is a rare form of epilepsy. It results from a gene variant in a gene that normally makes a protein important for neurotransmission. People with Dravet Syndrome only make about half as much protein as they need for proper function. This causes often uncontrollable seizures, developmental delays, and other comorbidities. We run every year to bring awareness and to try to raise money for a cure! The Dravet Foundation is committed to funding research for a true cure and better treatments. They also provide support for families like ours and use funds raised to facilitate it. Because of the research the foundation has funded, Amelia is on 2 medications approved specifically for her syndrome and has been enjoying seizure control for over a year!
