My mom, Debora, was diagnosed with high-risk MDS last week. The hardest part of all of it was the waiting weeks for answers from a bone marrow biopsy. This was not expected, nor can you prepare yourself to watch your mom, who is already fighting an uphill battle, get such a scary diagnosis.
As we sat in Hillmon Cancer Center in Beaver, I thought, this is the strongest woman I know.
Her willingness to give chemo a try to slow this disease shows her courage, which gives us all hope and strength. I had never heard of MDS, much less understood what it meant, but what I do know is a Woman who says boldly, "God is going to do things his way and if its time to meet him, I'm ready"
I saw this virtual walk and wanted to do something that feels like I'm not just sitting here waiting for the last day. I wanted to research and understand this condition. I encourage you to look into High Risk MDS. Send love and support to my mom. She may not respond to texts, but I know she knows she is deeply loved.
