Edgewood United Church (East Lansing) has participated for years in the annual AIDS Walk, to support the Lansing Area AIDS Network. Participating in the AIDS Walk is part of our social justice ministry. Edgewood is one of the few churches that participates in the AIDS Walk, and we believe our presence is an important witness for some of the most marginalized people in our society. Despite the relative silence in the media about HIV/AIDS, the disease is still very much around, affecting the most marginalized populations-- especially young men of color who have sex with men. People with HIV still face tremendous stigma due to both the disease and the routes of transmission. At Edgewood, we believe that no matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are a beloved child of God and celebrated in our faith community.
