Caleb’s journey with Type 1 Diabetes began on May 19, 2025— a day our family will never forget. At just 12 years old, Caleb had been experiencing symptoms that quickly became impossible to ignore: extreme tiredness, extreme thirst, vomiting, significant weight loss, and ongoing stomach pain. What we initially hoped was something minor turned into something much more serious.

We took Caleb to his primary care doctor for an emergency visit, searching for answers. After hearing his symptoms, the doctor immediately said it looked like Type 1 Diabetes. A quick glucose test confirmed his concern, and everything moved fast from there. We were told to go straight to Children’s Hospital.

That moment was overwhelming. Our world shifted in an instant.

At Children’s Hospital, Caleb received incredible care from a team that not only treated him medically but supported us emotionally every step of the way. They helped stabilize him, educated us, and gave us the tools we needed to begin this new journey.

Since that day, Caleb has shown strength, resilience, and courage beyond his years. Living with Type 1 Diabetes means constant monitoring, daily insulin, and making careful decisions—but it does not define who he is. Caleb continues to push forward, adapt, and inspire everyone around him.

We are walking to support Caleb and the millions of others living with Type 1 Diabetes. We walk for awareness, for better treatments, and one day—for a cure.
