Braydon was born at woodwinds hospital on January 26th, 2013. When the doctors took Braydon to do his 24 hour new born check, they came back and told us that he did not pass his heart check. They said it was probably nothing and they just wanted to keep an eye on it. Over the next two days it did not get any better so they called children's hospital to do an echo on his heart. After the echo we brought Braydon back to our room. A few minutes later a nurse came and took Braydon and said something is wrong with his heart and that he getting transported to children's hospital in Minneapolis and he needs heart surgery. Our hearts dropped. We were in shock. We did not know what to think, feel or do at this moment. Braydon was taken by ambulance to children's and we had to drive separate. That was the longest car ride of my life. Once we got to the hospital we found Braydon. After one day in the nicu and numerous tests they finally figured out what was wrong with Braydon and went over everything with us. The next day they moved Braydon to the cvcc floor and got him settled in. We meet the doctors that was going to do Braydon's surgery and we met his cardiologist. A team of 10+ doctors made rounds at least 2 times a day. After they all had a game plan Braydon was preped for heart surgery at 5 days old. Braydon's surgery went very well and the doctors called him the rockstar of the cvcc floor. That's how we came up with our team name. Braydon is doing great thanks to children's cvcc team. He will still have to have check ups every year his whole life to make sure he does not need further surgeries, but now at the age of 4 he is one happy and healthy boy!
