A little bit about a big spirited baby boy, Charlie
Charles Joshua Simon was born on Oct 12 2016 at 10:30 am. After just a minute of laying with his momma after birth, they noticed something wrong and he was taken to be looked over by the nurses and doctor. That was the first and last time he would be held by his parents instead of just a hospital bed for almost two weeks. His family found out that he was born with a heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries. In the days following birth he had two open heart surgeries within his first week. One to repair the defect and then one because he then needed a pace maker.
As of today, May 12, Charlie is 7 months old. He has spent most of his life in the hospital. Currently he is home but has encountered many more obstacles to overcome.
His journey has been a long one and it is just starting. Children's hospital has been a blessing through it all providing amazing care for Charlie and his Family.
