Vera turned two this year.  Two years.  Two very joyous years.  This little girl who we did not know would survive, has been with us for two years, and oh how she brings so much joy to everyone she meets.  Vera, our shy on the outside girl, but super silly when she let's you in, girl.  She creates smiles and laughter.  Vera, who we worried so much about before she was even here, and still do, remains healthy and strong, and brave.  

For two years, her broken heart has not defined her.  In fact, we almost forget how she entered the world, until bath time, and bed time, and morning time, when under her clothes, her beautiful young scar emerges.  Then, we are reminded how much her heart has instead defined us.  It has defined how our family loves each other, how we forgive each other, how we help each other, how we enjoy ever moment together.  Because of Vera, life is sweeter, kinder, stronger.  

We do not know what the future holds, but having Vera in it, means everything to us.  Thank you Children's Hospital, for making Vera part of our future.  We will continue to help insure you are part of the future for other heart warriors like Vera too.  Go team Brave Hearts!

P.S.  This year we will not be walking, but instead heading as a family, on our own journey across the Utah desert.  Though we can not be there to walk, we will definitely be there in spirit, and will continue to raise money to keep the cardiovascular program at Children's Hospital thriving.
