WELCOME TO THE DREAM FACTORY MB SCHOOL DRAGON BOAT CHALLENGE, Presented By FIRMA Foreign Exchange - FUNDRAISING PAGE!

The Dream Factory is proud to partner with the Manitoba Paddling Association to host one of the summer's biggest events: The Dream Factory MB School Dragon Boat Challenge, Presented By FIRMA Foreign Exchange! It is one of the largest school activities in the province, and we couldn't be more excited to be a part of it!

The festival is a fundraiser for The Dream Factory, a Winnipeg based charitable organization dedicated to fulfilling dreams for Manitoba kids who are battling life- threatening illnesses. We need paddlers and  teams to raise funds and help us to make dreams come true for kids who desperately need a break from hospitals, medical treatments and the very adult challenges that come with serious illness. All funds raised stay in Manitoba to help Manitoba kids and their families.

We are hoping that Manitoba school kids and their families will help us help Manitoba sick kids and their families by raising a minimum of $75 per paddler.

Everything we do is focused on helping sick kids and their families.

If helping to make a dream come true for a deserving child isn’t incentive enough to gather pledges, then please read on:

  1. There is a special recognition race for the Top Eight Fundraising teams, and the fastest three teams each receive a trophy!
  2. There are special bursaries for the Top Three Fundraising teams!
  3. There are gift certificates from Chapters for each of the Top Three Individual Fundraisers!

How do you get involved? Easy, get your Team Captain to register your team for fundraising on this site (click on Register to FUNdraise for this Event on the right side of the page), then join the team online and reach out to friends and family across the country to safely and securely gather online pledges. Or you can gather pledges from family, friends and neighbours and record them on the pledge form that you can print off from this site, or get from your Team Captain. All individual pledges gathered will contribute to their Team’s Total.

Thank you for helping us bring dreams to life!

Meet our Dream Kids:

Meet Makayla

Makayla.png

Mikayla is a vivacious 4 yr. old, shown here telling a story and having a great time in the Family room at The Dream Factory. She is fighting Hepatoblastoma (a cancer of the liver). The dream that keeps her and her family going through this ordeal is a trip to Disney World, where she will attend the “Bibbity Bobbity Boutique”, for a princess makeover! Then as princess herself, she will meet with some of the Disney princesses like Anna, Ariel and Belle!

For Mikayla, and all kids that are fighting a life-threatening illness, having a dream gives them something to hang on to, something to look forward to. Because their doctors often consider the dream as part of their therapy, the dream gives them (and their family) a break from needles and tests, and treatments and other things “hospital” and will let her be a kid again for a few days.

Meet Logan

Logan.png

Logan is a typical 6 year old – bursting with enthusiasm, full of life and love. Except he is bravely fighting T Cell Lymphoma, a type of cancer. As you can see, he also really likes the giant teddy bear we have in the family room here at The Dream Factory!

Logan’s dream is to go to Disney World, and meet his favorite movie icon the 95 car, Monty “Lightning” McQueen.

At Disney World, Logan and his family will have much needed break from fighting cancer, and enjoy a few days where Logan can be a kid again!

Meet Maia

Maia.png

Last April, Maia's family had their world come crashing down when Maia was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at just 3 years old. Since then, Maia has undergone months of intensive weekly chemotherapy and has had to stay away from crowds and public areas.

When deciding what her dream would be, Disney World was the obvious choice! At Disney, Maia will go to a special boutique to become Princess Elsa for a day, go on a Safari to the Animal Kingdom and see a cheetah in “real life,” meet all her favourite princesses and characters, and go on the “Dinosaur” ride. Everything she loves in her little world will become real to her.
Maia's family cannot WAIT to watch their little girl bask in the joys of life
