On September 27, 2014, my life changed in an instant when a diving accident left me paralyzed from the chest down with a spinal cord injury. Since then, Team JandyStrong has turned the most difficult experience of my life into a commitment to push limits, raise awareness, and help move spinal cord injury research forward.

Over the past decade, my family, friends, and supporters have helped Team JandyStrong raise more than $250,000 for spinal cord injury research and advocacy through marathon events and other endurance challenges. In 2026, I’m proud to continue that journey as part of Team U2FP at the Twin Cities Marathon.

Unite 2 Fight Paralysis is especially meaningful to me because their mission goes beyond adapting to life with paralysis. U2FP is working to accelerate curative therapies for spinal cord injury through research, education, and patient-led advocacy. Their work includes advocating for state research funding, connecting people living with SCI directly with researchers, and bringing scientists, clinicians, advocates, and the SCI community together to push progress forward.

This cause is personal. Living with the realities of spinal cord injury every day, I know how much meaningful recovery could change the lives of millions of people and their families.
