Monroe James Lisson was born July 10, 2017.  He was early, like his sister, but only by 2.5 weeks.  Though he was ready to come into the world, his lungs were not.  Less than an hour after being born, he was put on breathing support, and 24 hours later, he was put under anesthesia, intubated, and sent to Children's Minnesota in Saint Paul.

The first few days were a blur, but Monroe slowly improved.  We were the lucky ones.  We knew he would get better.  We knew we would be taking Monroe home.  Many of the families around us were not living with that certainty.  We had awesome nurses, fantastic doctors, and our beloved NNP, Candi with us every step of the way and we all had the same goal: to send Monroe home.  Ten days after being born, we did just that!
