March 22nd, 2017,changed our lives forever. It started off like anyother morning. I had woke Brody up for school, and got him all spruced up. (it was spring picture day at school) As I was getting him ready he looked at me and said "i don't feel very well." I asked him what was wrong and he couldnt say. he didnt look sick and was not running a frever so I told him he had to go to school. He was 5 and in kindergarden and I thought maybe just having a bad morning. Brody caught the bus at 08:50am.

09:20am, Brody's dad got a phone call from the nurses offices telling him that Brody had just had a seizure in the middle of the classroom and he needed to get taken into a doctor right away. ( I will forever have the guilt that Brody told me he didnt feel good and I still sent him to school) .I frantically rushed and picked him up from school. In the car everything seemed OKAY. We played "eye spy with my little eye" by the time we had gotten to the clinic that was attached to an ER, sat down, Brody had 2 more back to back seizures. From there they transported us to Children's Hospital Minneapolis.

We arrived and were greeted right away with the most amazing nurses and Doctors I have ever met. They settled us in as we would be staying the night or 4 to run tests. The picture above is or first night there. That smile is so Brave!) The next day, Brody had an EEG and an MRI. The EEG came back "normal" so we crossed epilepsy off the list. The MRI however revealed a grape sized Frontal Lobe Angiocentric Brain Tumor... ( never in my wildest nightmare would I have even imagined this!!!) From then on we met a wonderful care team of Nurologists, Neurosurgeon, and Oncologist to come up with a treatment plan. For the next few weeks, Brody had many procedures and tests done.

On April 12th, 2017, my son Brody underwent a Crainiotomy and had the tumor removed. Thankfully the tumor came back benign. The scans looked amazing and it looked like his fabulous surgeon got all of the bad cells! The next few weeks depended on Brody and his recovery. We had spent our Easter Holiday there. We are truly GRATEFUL for everyone and everything that hospital has done for my son and my family. They saved his life! From the Doctors, Nurses, Physical therapists, to the Ronald McDonald house for feeding us, to the 7th Floor (oncology/hemotology) for getting us a wonderful Easter dinner from Boston Market so we could enjoy the Holiday,I meet so many strong kids and families on that floor that I willl forever keep in my heart!  To the geek squad for supplying Brody with unlimited games, the meal vouchers, the housekeeper. The list goes on and on. We are truly thankful and I owe you so much more than I can give. That is why im doing this walk.

Brody is now coming up on his year anniversary of being a Brain Tumor survivor.  I will aways question the why's but be forever blessed that he made it through this!
