October 2017 we were informed that her pregnancy was not going as planned. The baby we never met had developed a spina bifida by 28 days gestation. Luckily the team at Children’s Hospital had a Option for us. We were given the choice to undergo prenatal repair of the defect, A risky operation we are very fortunate to live in one of the few states in the country who performed the surgery. Thanks to the early intervention of this amazing team McKaylas future is looking very bright.
