This is Trooper. On September 6th, Trooper came to Brandywine Valley SPCA in pretty rough condition. He was so thin that we ran bloodwork to make sure there weren't any underlying issues. Turns out, he was just extremely neglected. Extremely hurt. Someone did this to him and then abandoned him. Animal control picked him up and brought him to BVSPCA to be taken care of. I took him home that night. We had to limit his food and water because he ate and drank so quickly he would get sick. We had to clean his ears out daily because they were badly infected.

We named him Trooper because even after all the poking and prodding our medical team had to do to ensure he was alright, he was sweet and friendly. On October 15th, Trooper was neutered and I was able to bring him home to be a permanent family member. He lives an extremely spoiled life with other rescue cats and dogs. He's safe. He's got a home. Finally.

Trooper's story isn't unique. Things like this happen all the time in the animal welfare world. But thanks to Brandywine Valley and the Office Of Animal Welfare, they have a chance. They can be saved.

In a little less than a month, we will be doing our Virtual Walk for Paws. In this, we raise money to afford to continue to help companions find refuge and eventually new homes.
