Event Information

What began as a Step challenge, has now morphed into an agency wide annual event! Wanting to challenge themselves, do something meaningful for the families and children they work with, and have fun doing it, Evangeline and Debra have created the 30K Any Way Relay Race to raise important funds and awareness for the Children’s Aid Foundation of Ottawa and Child Abuse Prevention Month.

This year will mark the 3rd annual 30K Any Way event, taking place on October 14, 2022. Staff are encouraged to dress in Purple, enter teams of 3 or more people and to complete the relay in Any Way! Run or walk 5K, bike 10 or 20K or complete the full 30K in a variety of ways, it all counts!

Share the reason you dress in Purple via #IDressPurpleBecause, engage your colleagues and community along with Evangeline and Debra in fundraising spirit and have a ton of fun along the National Capital Commission Trail!

New This Year!

Double the Impact with your donations!!

An anonymous donor of the Foundation will match all your donations up to $15,000.  Please let your friends and family know they will have their donations matched, helping to brighten the lives of children, youth and families involved with CAS Ottawa.

Proceeds will benefit programs funded by the Children’s Aid Foundation of Ottawa, like the Cookie Jar Fund, Camp for Kids program, Dare to Dream Bursary, and the POD Model for Learning program.

Please note if you are a current CASO staff, you will need to schedule a vacation day to participate, and appropriate coverage within your POD will need to be arranged.

Why Dress Purple?

Evangeline and Debra work directly with families and children who face a number of personal, social and economic barriers. The effects of the Covid-19 pandemic have placed even more pressure on these families and we know that there are so many individuals out there in our community who can help support them. On October 14th, they are dressing in purple and hitting the trails to help spread awareness about the important role that individuals and communities play in supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families, and they hope you will join them!

Every October Children’s Aid Societies across the province raise awareness about the important role that individuals and communities play in supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families.

On Dress Purple Day, we celebrate the community that cares for families and share the message that help is available and no one is alone.
