Throughout my 33-year law enforcement career, I paid close attention to the sophisticated ways this job can steal life from good men and women--myself included. At the extremes, some of my own friends gave their lives while serving and protecting, and other LEO friends of mine who started out just as bright-eyed, confident, and hopeful as I did--they took their own. High stress, high danger, isolating, difficult work hours, unrealistic public expectations and more have made police work a job that's prone to burn-out. Police officers have much higher rates of depression, alcoholism, divorce, suicide, and heart attack & stroke rates than the national average. It's the only job class with the risk of being murdered just because you're a member. To varying degrees, living and working as a peace officer negatively affects the personal lives of every one of us, and our families, too.
In response to all of this, I founded 360ARMOR, a charitable teaching nonprofit that's purpose-built to help police officers better manage the difficulties of living and working the cop life. So they can better withstand all that's thrown at them, we take an armoring-in-advance approach. Our three-part program focuses on right-sizing emotional job investment, healthy on-duty and off-duty relationships, and fitness and wellness on all fronts. Our national police membership organization is on a mission to put an end to our well-known job-caused personal attrition. Although it's free to join, members have to sign a commitment that they'll spend intentional time and effort pursuing our 360-degree police fitness and wellness program.
Because 360ARMOR is an IRS approved 501c3 nonprofit organization, every dollar you give is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Your money will help us to get the word out to law enforcement officers everywhere, and it will also fund new local chapters and increase deliverables to all members.
