Kailiana is a bright, strong, and resilient child who lives with epilepsy, a neurological disorder that causes unpredictable and dangerous seizures. These seizures can happen at any time—day or night—posing a serious risk to her safety and quality of life. Despite all the challenges she faces, Kailiana continues to show incredible courage and joy each day.

After exploring every available option, we’ve learned that a specially trained epilepsy service dog could make a world of difference for her. These amazing dogs are trained to detect seizures before they happen, alert caregivers, provide comfort during and after episodes, and even call for help if needed. For Kailiana, this dog would mean not only greater safety but also more freedom, independence, and peace of mind—for her and our entire family.

Unfortunately, the cost of training and placing a service dog is significant—often $23,000—and is not covered by insurance. That’s why we’re asking for your help.

Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon.
