For those of you who haven’t followed our story, meet Finn! Finn is 8 years old and he has autism.
While he is growing by leaps and bounds, his autism does make things difficult with his daily life. Finn tends to elope, due to curiosity, lack of communication, and sensory needs Finn has left our home when he was not supposed to. Including in the middle of the night, which prompted police assistance for his safe return. Because of this we have been fundraising to get Finn a safe sleep bed, and a service dog. The bed is in process now, and the dog is coming along nicely!
Service dogs run a family $20,000 and are not at all covered by insurance so we must raise the full amount out of pocket. Due to a glow dance, tshirt sale, and generous donations we are almost there! Please consider donating to help us finish out strong!
Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon. We hope that we can receive assistance from our beloved family and friends to help make our service dog dream a reality.
