Lukey’s Service Dog Journey

Meet Lukey!

Luke is 4 years old, full of curiosity and learning to navigate the world with Pitt-Hopkins syndrome—an ultra-rare genetic condition that affects communication, mobility, behavior regulation and overall development. Like many children with Pitt-Hopkins, Luke faces challenges with safety, emotional regulation, and independence, especially as his world grows bigger.

We are excited to raise support for something that could truly change his day-to-day life! By supporting this journey, you are helping provide safety, independence, emotional regulation and opportunity. You are helping give Luke a trusted partner who can walk beside him through life, offering stability, confidence, and support every step of the way.

Thank you for walking alongside our Lukey boy, cheering him on and supporting our family as we work to give him the safest, fullest life possible!

Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon. We hope that we can receive assistance from our beloved family and friends to help make our service dog dream a reality.
