Meet Harper!

She is a bright, funny, and curious 5-year-old who brings joy to everyone she meets. 

When Harper was 2, she was diagnosed with autism, which brings daily challenges that impact her safety, health, and independence. Our family has been working hard to find the right support to help Harper thrive and stay safe, and after a long application process, she has been approved to receive an autism service dog through 4 Paws for Ability (a nonprofit that raises and trains service dogs for children with disabilities).

Harp’s service dog will be trained specifically for her needs: elopement prevention, tracking her if she does elope, providing DPT, and interrupting unsafe behaviors. This kind of support will make a world of difference for Harper’s safety, independence, and quality of life.

The placement fee for her service dog is $40,000, and while 4 Paws for Ability covers half of the cost, we are responsible for raising $20,000 before Harper moves onto the active placement list. 

We are asking for your help to bring Harper’s service dog home.

Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon. We hope that we can receive assistance from our beloved family and friends to help make our service dog dream a reality.
