“Help Ren Find His Helping Paw”

A service dog can help support Ren with his hearing loss, autism, and mobility needs—and hopefully become his best buddy, companion, and partner as he grows.

? Meet Ren: A Little Boy with a Big Heart

Aloha!

Ren is 5 yeras old, and we are a small family—just my husband, me, and our son, Ren.

Ren was born with Coffin-Lowry syndrome, a very rare genetic condition. He lives with hearing loss, hypotonia, learning disabilities, and mobility challenges, and he uses a wheelchair. More recently, he was also diagnosed with autism.

Even with all the challenges he faces, Ren is one of the happiest and most joyful people we know. He has taught us so much about patience, kindness, and unconditional love. He reminds us to slow down, celebrate the little things, and appreciate each moment.

I have been Ren’s primary caregiver since the day he was born. My husband works hard to support our family and make sure we can give Ren the care and opportunities he deserves. Together, we do everything we can to support him and help him experience the world as fully as possible.

But we also dream of something more for Ren—a companion who can be by his side as he grows.

We hope to find a service dog who can support Ren with his hearing, mobility, safety, and everyday needs. But we also hope for something just as important: a best buddy. A loyal friend who will grow with him, share his happy moments, and give him companionship when we can't always be by his side.

For our family, this dog would be more than a service animal. We hope they will become a special part of Ren’s life—a partner, a friend, and a source of comfort and confidence.

We are asking for your help to make that possibility a reality for Ren. Every donation, share, and kind message brings us one step closer to finding his helping paw.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about Ren and our family. Your support means more to us than we can express.

Mahalo.

Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon. We hope that we can receive assistance from our beloved family and friends to help make our service dog dream a reality.
