Help Onetta Find Her Four-Legged Best Friend

At just 8 years old, Onetta is navigating something no child should have to face: living with epilepsy, feeling unwell day after day, and managing the difficult side effects of medication. Her world has changed a lot in a short amount of time, and it hasn’t been easy for her.

We’re raising funds to help Onetta receive a specially trained seizure response service dog who can provide both life-changing support and unconditional friendship. This incredible companion will be trained to alert her caregivers when she has a seizure, help keep her safely positioned, provide deep pressure therapy during and after seizures, and retrieve her rescue medication when needed.

But beyond the medical support, we hope this dog will give Onetta something just as important: a best friend. Someone by her side on the hard days, a source of comfort when her body doesn’t feel right, and a loving companion who can help her feel safe, confident, and less alone as she adjusts to life with epilepsy.

Onetta is still just a little girl who deserves to laugh, play, feel loved, and enjoy being a kid. A seizure service dog could help bring more comfort, independence, security, and joy into her life during a time filled with so much uncertainty.

Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon. We hope that we can receive assistance from our beloved family and friends to help make our service dog dream a reality.
