The guys the Ranch supports, had all longed to move away from their urban living environment to one where they could experience a more rural, subsistence based lifestyle, thus the Willow Ranch was created.

 Everyone works together to raise livestock, hunt and fish, process game, and grow vegetables. The guys supported have learned to drive 4-wheelers, operate skid-steer tractors, learned about equipment maintenance and fence repairs. They have developed routines necessary to care for all the livestock and poultry they raise there. They have also developed the safety skills necessary in order to live in their own homes on the property, and enjoy an independent, yet communal lifestyle. The Ranch is devoted to building a home for these men that is independent, enmeshed within the local community and as self-sustaining as possible.
