It feels like only yesterday that a group of proud Americans banded together with the hope of reviving summer’s greatest gift, the hot dog. Our group has grown enormously over the past 4 years and we can’t wait to see who will take on the challenge as year 5 begins! Whether you have been with us since day 1 or joined in along the way, we are excited to have you along for this ride as we continue on our quest to make Hot Dogs Great Again.
From day one of the Hot Dog Challenge the love and support we have received has exceeded anything we could have ever imagined, but year 4 was truly unbelievable. We put our challengers and fans to the test by setting our goal at $20,000. Once again you delivered! We finished the 40 days with over $27,000 raised and bringing our total donations over the past four years up to $50,000 going toward Leader Dogs for the Blind.
We can’t begin to express how thankful we are for to all of the challengers and donors we have had over these four years. As the Hot Dog Challenge hits year 5, we wanted to extend our invitation to everyone. For those brave enough to take on the 40 day challenge we say welcome and good luck. To all of our sponsors and donors, it’s time to put your hot dogs where your mouths are. This year during the 40 days of the Hot Dog Challenge we want our fans to submit their best video and nominate others on how you are Making Hot Dogs Great Again. We have said for years we couldn’t do this without you and we couldn’t be happier to have you by our side as we continue our support of Leaders Dog for the Blind and our dear friend Jeff Cortese.
Leader Dogs for the Blind is an organization that helps to empower blind, visually impaired or Deaf-Blind people with lifelong skills for safe and independent travel. All of their services and programs are offered completely free of charge and without the help of any federal or state funding.
These are difficult times in the midst of COVID-19 but we hope that before this is all over we will get to bring everyone together again. After the success of last year’s inaugural Hot Dog Eating Contest hosted by The White Buffalo of New Canaan, CT. Our goal is to host the 2nd annual contest in 2020. We will keep everyone posted on the status of the contest and look forward to the day when someone will be able to challenge Brian O’Callaghan for his championship. For those of you who are about to embark on this challenge, you are now entering into a fraternity of passionate [hot] dog enthusiasts. Do not take this honor lightly, greatness does not happen by accident. Embrace your love of dogs, both hot and K9, and spread it to as many people as possible. Eating hot dogs is a team sport, and while only so many of us are willing to make the sacrifices necessary to be challengers, anyone and everyone can support the cause and enjoy a dog.
