About Cathy

On Thursday, Sept 3 I will be racing in my 3rd Hyrox race in Washington, DC.

As September is Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month I am racing for all my fellow survivors.

Cathy's Brain Aneursym Story

June 1. 2020 after an at home CrossFit workout, I experienced the worst pain of my life. It felt like someone took a bat and hit me on the head.

Hours later we learned it was a ruptured brain aneurysm. I was airlifted to John Hopkins in Baltimore where I received a craniotomy and my aneurysm was clipped.

After almost a month in NCCU I was determined to not let the aneurysm stop me from what I love doing. I went to Physocal Therapy and was back lifting and running in 3 months.

Today, I credit my recovery to the wonderful JHU neurosurgeons, friends & family, God and my passion to keep moving. I continue to push myself each year to not let the aneurysm or age to slow me down.

This month, I’m racing my 3rd Hyrox event and dedicating to all survivors. Each day we continue to push ourselves to not allow the anuerysm to define us and to be thankful to be here and to spread awareness to everyone around us.
