Ruth’s Gleanings is celebrating our 5th Anniversary!
We have come so far since our humble beginnings in the Spring of 2016, and we couldn’t have done it without God’s provision, and the support and partnership of so many in our beautiful city of Spartanburg.
It began with one SUV and the simple idea of rescuing excess food to bridge the gap between food waste and people experiencing food insecurity. With a 25,000 pound haul in the first year, Ruth’s Gleanings was off to a great start in 2016. Just 4 years later, in 2020, we hauled nearly TEN TIMES THAT AMOUNT distributing 225,000 pounds of fresh produce to families in need.
We have been blessed with provision and volunteers to get this done, but there is still so much more to do.
