Hello, my name is Syrena Blessing. I am a 35 year old mother of two young children with a loving and supportive sighted partner. I am legally blind due to juvenile glaucoma that is basically the current day plague like situation on my paternal side of the family. I guess we could say it's a curse or a blessing? Not everyone in my family has lost vision from this disease but of course it is something I feel very passionately about. In the most recent years, I have learned something new. I have learned that the word disability is just a word I didn't like. I now have a white cane that I am confident using that now makes me ABLE to do the things I want and need to do for daily living. Don't get me wrong, there are days I wish I had the vision I used to BUT we can't change the past. Let's all walk together to raise some money for a good cause that is so close to my heart. My 11 year old daughter was diagnosed last year as well and will be receiving corrective surgery this summer. Please show our younger generations that we can still support each other for a common cause that WILL make a direct improvement on the visually impaired community. Thank you for your support!!!
