More than 25 years ago, after visiting Camp Courage, I knew my purpose was clear—preventing burn injuries in children. That experience shaped my commitment to fire and life safety education.
In June 2023, I returned—this time as a volunteer. From capturing moments behind the camera to working alongside the arts and crafts team, I’ve had the privilege of seeing Camp Courage through a new lens. What stands out most is watching campers simply be kids—laughing, creating, and building friendships—free from judgment about their scars.
Camp Courage is more than a camp. It’s a place where confidence is rebuilt, memories are made, and healing happens in ways prevention alone never could. That’s my “why”: not only to prevent these injuries, but to support the strength and resilience that follows.
