I’ve spent many years serving and volunteering in this community and have a heart for seeing people come together in a positive way. Even before I was personally more active in the Y, I started making friends with people in the “Y family” and knew the organization was serving many needs in our community.
Now that I’ve served on the YMCA Board of Directors, I’m even more confident in the value of the Y’s cause. The Y is all about community. I love the bond that is present every time I walk in the door. I love seeing the kids—and the kids of all ages—having a good time. I love the smiles, the encouragement, the positive atmosphere, connecting with my friends and making new ones. I feel comfortable when I come to the Y and know that everyone deserves the same opportunity. Over the years I’ve seen what this Y can do, when I’ve visited YMCA summer camp and seen kids whose lives that have been changed because of the counselors or when I personally experience the encouragement from a trainer to be healthy and active, I’m more convinced than ever of the importance of the Y.
