Volunteers from my company, Air Liquide, hold Junior Achievement Day twice a year at Treasure Forest Elementary. The vast majority of students come from disadvantaged homes (95 percent qualify for reduced or free lunch), and I see the impact we make on those young, impressionable minds. The JA curriculum teaches about us as individuals, as well as the roles family and the community play in everyday life. I know the knowledge we provide is spread beyond the walls of the school when the children return to their community and share what they learn from this engagement. Air Liquide aims to engage with the communities in which it operates in meaningful ways, and Junior Achievement is an example of its commitment.
