Jon's journey at Alatheia has been one of finding trust, and of finding belonging. After a few years as the resident 'sporty fjord' in the therapeutic riding program, it was determined that his talents were better suited serving our veterans. His defensive posturing as he approaches people says, "if I show how tough I am, no one will hurt me." This attitude makes Jon uniquely successful in the Warriors and Horses Program; his personality reflects his past. He is slow to trust, but is constantly seeking sincere human connection. Once he bonds with someone, it is a deep and meaningful friendship. Veterans relate to Jon profoundly.
Jon is an example of how there is a place for everyone at Alatheia. While the riding program constitutes most of the daily activities, it is far from the only area in which our horses can provide comfort and healing. His unique background and training make him a valuable asset.
