Hi my name is Ivy and up there with that dog that isn't me or my sister Harley is my mom! (I'm cuter - you can see pictures of me down there...)

My pawrents adopted me from a shelter when I was very small, so I don't know much about the world that isn't burrowing in blankets or making them pay the ice cube tax, but for all of the animals out there that need a safe home with cheese cubes and belly rubs, my mom is raising money to help make sure they have a warm bed at night where they can get under the covers and take up all the room, so I guess I can forgive her for spending the day with another furry friend if it helps them get out of jail too!

As someone who has always had a furry companion in my life, this is a cause that is close to my heart. As a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia has a specific relation to my collegiate service days when we would spend time on the weekends as volunteers. One volunteer Saturday in particular, it had recently rained, and I got a flat tire just outside the parking lot. So I limped my car into a space, called my dad for help, and turned to the animals to de-stress. Some of the large dogs and I took turns playing in the muddy runs for hours while I laughed and got bowled over. By the end of the morning, dad had patched my tire, but the rescues had patched my mood just as Harley and Ivy continue to do every day.

Now, as the President of the ZTA Gainesville Alumnae Chapter, I am proud to be able to offer my time and help fundraise for HSNEGA for the benefit of the lives in need and stressed-out students (and adults, because we all need puppy and kitten therapy, let's be honest) of northeast Georgia.
