Richmond Hill is an urban monastery praying for the spirit of the city. And, it just happens to be a place that has totally transformed my life.

I know, I know. What is an urban monastery praying for the spirit of the city, and why does it matter? For one, we are a place where all people are welcome to come, have a quiet moment, and pray. We pray three times a day, every day, for our city— a city haunted by centuries of traumatic history, but one that also shimmers with an aliveness that is hard to describe.

While we are rooted in the Christian tradition, we are open to all— so many people from all walks of life come through our doors every day. A Buddhist group meets in our Chapel every Thursday. We have a monthly grief support group that is transformative for people in need. Our mentorship and leadership outreach at the local high school has connected me to two young women who will be in my life for good. 

In short, Richmond Hill connects me to the city I live in like nowhere else I've been, and that rootedness has transformed my life.
