Stormy entered our life on a below zero day in January 2015 at barely one year of age. He was scratching on a neighbor’s door and she brought him to us. We searched in vain for his owner but were unsuccessful. Stormy brought an independent personality to our four “indoor only” feline ladies and two dogs but fit right in. He insisted on going outside in daytime and would return after patrolling the barns, gardens, and stone walls. Stormy enjoyed rolling in dirt and then meticulously cleaning his white fur. He always napped on the softest blankets, demanded snacks from his kitchen stool, and pounded on doors or windows when he wanted to go in or out. Stormy loved racing across the yard, running up trees, hanging with the dogs and running to us when he was called. He tolerated the other cats who insisted on greeting him to sniff his outdoor smells, never using his claws, even when tapping them away. Stormy wasn’t often a lap cat but would request petting “on his terms”. His expressive facial mannerisms, conversation and athletic capers made us smile. This March, Stormy’s kidneys began failing. Our vet tried to treat him until we had to let him go peacefully across the rainbow bridge. RIP my beautiful boy…you are forever in our hearts.
