Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS) of Elgin’s mission is to respectfully and compassionately empower persons and families who are in need of housing to become self-sustaining by providing shelter, needed services and professional guidance whose last known place of residence was in Elgin Township, Hanover Township, Dundee Township or portions of Rutland Township. In addition to providing safe overnight shelter, meals, laundry and shower facilities, clothing and toiletries, PADS also provides comprehensive case management services. Case managers meet with each client to address their immediate needs and long-term goals, which typically include sustainable housing and employment, medical and dental care, money management, life skills training, and, if necessary, referrals for mental health and/or alcohol and substance abuse services. These services set each guest up for success to achieve their individualized goals that lead to a sustainable future as a member of their community.
