The Anthropology Program has set a goal to raise $900 for two Forensic Replica Skulls

The department is looking to purchase two forensic skull replicas for teaching demonstration/illustration purposes.

The first replica is of Kennewick Man, which was discovered in the Columbia River in Kennewick, Washington in 1996 and is estimated to be about 9,000-9,500 years old. Researchers estimate the individual to have been between 5' 7" and 5' 9", 160 pounds and approximately 40 years old at the time of his death.

The second skull is Homo Floresiensis, which was discovered in Indonesia in 2003. The partial skeleton of this species, which was designated as female because of characteristics of the pelvis, shows that she was only about 3.6 feet tall and was living about 190,000 years ago.

These two replica skulls would provide a valuable hands-on experience for students learning about how humans have changed over time in physical anthropology.
