Ovarian cancer – the deadliest women’s cancer – has no early detection test or universal means of prevention.
This spring, a group of ovarian cancer survivors, medical providers and caregivers will trek to the rooftop of the world to put the first ovarian cancer survivors ever on the 29,029 foot summit.
We strive to raise 2.9 million dollars for ovarian cancer prevention and early detection research and awareness.
To raise money for this great Cancer Busting cause and to challenge myself! I have never mountaineered before, nor have I slept on a glacier (or a tent on a mountain for that matter), or climbed a mountain that required ice axes and crampons. I'm also scared of heights and steep surfaces, and I'm always cold. I'm surprised they are letting me come on this trek LOL.... This will be a challenge for me, but nothing compared to the fight cancer survivors endure to beat off their deadly disease.
Ovarian Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women. About 22,000 American women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer just this year. About 14,000 will die, even though many cases could be prevented or found early. If you are a woman, know any women, have a mother, a sister, daughter, aunt, female cousin/friend/neighbor, we/they could be the next. They don't have to be "old". My dear friend was diagnosed with Stage III Ovarian Cancer in her early 30s. Fundraising money goes toward Screening and Prevention to help keep all women you know healthy. Please donate away and thank you!!!
